Journal of the National Museum in Warsaw. New Series

The sixth issue of the Journal of the National Museum in Warsaw begins with Prof. Antoni Ziemba’s article on the Gallery of European Old Masters at the National Museum in Warsaw, which showcases European and Old Polish decorative arts, painting and sculpture created between the 15th and 18th centuries. The first subject area of the volume concerns one of the most valuable works held at the NMW’s Department of Prints and Drawings – the Codex of the Armorial of the Order of the Golden Fleece from 1577 with drawings by Netherlandish artist Hans Bol. The second subject area is the outcome of the exhibition Masters of the Pastel. From Marteau to Witkacy. It includes, among others, an article on The Wawel Treasury – a series of monumental pastels by Leon Wyczółkowski. With this issue, we also return to the tradition of publishing posthumous tributes, recounting the life and work of the late employees of the NMW.

Abstracts and keywords have been introduced since issue 8(44) of the journal. The Editorial Committee has supplemented the archive section with the missing keywords.
