Dobrochna Zielińska is an archaeologist, nubiologist, associate professor at the Department of Archaeology of Egypt and Nubia of the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw. Her academic interests revolve around both the immaterial and material aspect of Nubian painting. Since 2001, she has participated in excavation works of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology of the University of Warsaw in Naqlun (Egypt), Hawarte (Syria), Banganarti (Sudan) and Old Dongola (Sudan). Since 2007, she has been involved in creating the corpus of Nubian paintings, planned to be part of the project Corpus of the Byzantine Wall- Paintings of the Academy of Athens under the auspices of the Union Académique Internationale (UAI) (project no.: 40/A). Since 2001, she has managed the project of the National Science Centre (NCN) Technologia malarstwa nubijskiego: historia, rodzaje, konserwacja [Technology of Nubian painting: history, types, conservation] (no. 011/01/D/HS3/06119).
