Dr Małgorzata Redlak is an expert in Arabic studies and Islamic art curator at the Oriental Art Collection of the National Museum in Warsaw; she specializes in ornamental stylistics and techniques of Islamic art. She contributed to sixteen exhibitions showcasing Islamic art objects from the National Museum of Warsaw’s collections, the more important ones including Sztuka muzułmańska w zbiorach Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie [Islamic art in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw] (The Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw, 1991), Świat islamu [The world of Islam] (District Museum in Sosnowiec – Schoen Palace, 1996), Sztuka perska okresu kadżarskiego 1779–1924 [Persian art from the Kadjar period, 1779–1924] (Zamoyski Museum in Kozłówka, 1996), War and Peace. Ottoman-Polish Relations in the 15th – 19th Centuries (Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art in Istanbul, 1999; National Museum in Warsaw, 2000), Arcydzieła sztuki perskiej w zbiorach polskich [Masterpieces of Persian art in Polish collections] (NMW, 2002), and Distant Neighbour Close Memories (Sakip Sabanci Museum in Istanbul, 2014). She is a lecturer in Islamic art history at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Oriental Studies, and she has participated in archeological missions to the Kom el-Dikka dig in Alexandria, Egypt organized by this university’s Centre of Mediterranean Archelogy.
