“Rocznik Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie. Nowa Seria / Journal of the National Museum in Warsaw. New Series” was established by Agnieszka Morawińska in 2012 as a periodical continuing the legacy of its historical predecessors: “Rocznik Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie / Annuaire du Musée National de Varsovie” (published between 1938 and 1992) and “Bulletin du Musée National de Varsovie” (whose final issue appeared in 2009).

The unique character of the journal stems from the special attention paid to objects in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw and to issues related to the museum’s collections, history, and activities. The journal publishes scholarly articles in the fields of art history, museology, and conservation. Our goal is to disseminate knowledge about the museum’s collections and to encourage readers and researchers from Poland and around the world to pursue further studies on these holdings. Thanks to its bilingual format—each article is published in both Polish and English—the journal participates fully in international scholarly exchange.

From 2012 to 2023, the journal was issued in print, featuring graphic design and typography by Janusz Górski. Since 2024, it has been available exclusively in electronic form, ensuring broad reach among readers and greater impact on academic communities.

The journal is published by the National Museum in Warsaw and is financed by the institution.
